Important : - Taking into account the forthcoming change into biometrics in November 2015 the French Consulate in Kolkata no longer accepts Indian Passport that contain : -

A manual entry (observation), where the biographical data (including identity, gender, date or place of birth) of the passport holder were changed.

Handwritten passports or those not readable by a machine.

The French Consulate in Kolkata advises travel agents to warn their customers that they must apply for a new passport if there are any observations in the passport or if the passport is not machine readable.

Passport Requirement

Original passport, issued less than 10 years ago and valid for at least 3 months after the intended return date to India for the Schengen zone.

It must have a minimum of two blank pages (face to face).

A photocopy of the front and back pages with applicant's address must be submitted.

Copies of valid and expired visas for all Schengen countries, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, must also be shown.

France Tourist Visa:
This visa is applicable if you are traveling to visit friends or relatives for less than 90 days.

Important Note:
- Appointment must be taken via VFS site: Schedule Appointment

Required Documents:
- Original passport valid for at least 6 months (passports over 10 years old not accepted)
- Photocopy of first and last page of passport and valid visa(s)
- Minimum 2 blank pages (opposite to each other) in the passport
- Photocopies of valid US, UK, or previous Schengen visas
- Two recent passport-size photographs (35x45mm, white/light background, 70–80% face coverage)
- One completed and signed visa application form
- Mobile number must be mentioned on the form
- Covering letter signed by the applicant (on company letterhead if self-employed)
- Confirmed prepaid hotel reservation or original sponsorship certificate (attestation d'accueil)
- Travel itinerary
- Photocopy of PAN Card
- IT returns of last 1 year
- Last 3 months' personal bank statement
- Last 3 months' salary slips
- Overseas medical insurance with €30,000 coverage (original to be carried for verification)
- Copy of confirmed return air ticket or PNR
- For minors: travel authorization from both parents with ID proof

Visa Fee:
- Adults (Short Term): €80
- Children (6–12 years): €40
Note: For Delhi applicants, visa fee is payable via Bank Draft or cash (additional ₹60 handling charge). Optional courier service is ₹300.

Processing Time:
- Tourist: 10–12 working days

France Business Visa:
This visa is applicable if you are traveling for business/company work for less than 90 days.
