Note: Indian Nationals can obtain short stay visa for a period ranging from one to ninety days, valid for all countries of the Schengen Territory
Schengen Member States: Austria, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland.
The Schengen Convention allows for freedom of circulation. Foreigners with valid stay permits from a Schengen state can re-enter with a valid passport, travel document, and a multiple entry visa.
Visa Application Guidelines:
- Apply at the consulate of the country of main stay
- If visiting multiple countries, apply to the one where you will stay the longest
- If the main destination is unclear, apply to the consulate of the first port of entry
- Long term visas must be applied for at the destination country's consulate
Note: Machine readable visas will not be affixed on passport pages already containing such visas. At least one blank double page is required.
Note: Ensure travel documents (air ticket, invitation, insurance, and cover letter) have matching dates
Biometric Requirement:
From 2 November 2015, biometric data (fingerprints and digital photo) is required for all Schengen short-term visa applicants. This applies for 5 years after first submission. Subsequent applications can reuse data.
Exempt from fingerprinting:
- Children under 12
- Individuals physically unable to provide fingerprints
- Royals, Heads of State, and government members on official travel
